New MOI Road Work Support Vehicle Rules in Qatar (2025): What Contractors Must Know

The Ministry of Interior – Traffic Department (MOI Qatar) has released updated vehicle specifications for Road Work Support Vehicles (Mosanadat Aamal Al-Toroq).

These rules are now mandatory for all contractors, consultants, and companies operating in road works, traffic diversion, and infrastructure support across Qatar. As a company executing Road Opening (RO), Traffic Diversion Plan (TDP), and road maintenance projects, ATB Group has summarized the key requirements you must follow — along with how our team can help you stay compliant and avoid violations.

🔍 1. What Is a Road Work Support Vehicle?

A Road Work Support Vehicle is a specially equipped vehicle used during road maintenance, lane closures, diversions, inspections, and emergency works.

The new MOI specifications aim to improve:

  • Visibility
  • Worker safety
  • Public road safety
  • Compliance with WZTMG (Work Zone Traffic Management Guide)

These rules are enforced immediately for all vehicles used in road projects.

📘 2. Summary of the New MOI Specifications

Below is the official breakdown from MOI’s latest instruction for Road Work Support Vehicles:

⚠️ 3. Why This New Rule Matters

Consequences of Non-Compliance

Non-compliance with these updated regulations, which prioritize WZTMG safety, may lead to:

  • Rejection of your TDP / RO submissions.
  • Fines during traffic inspections by MOI.
  • Significant project delays.
  • Increased safety risks to workers and the public.

Work Zone safety is now a top priority for Ashghal and MOI. Every contractor must update their fleet immediately.
